Dr. Carlo Contreras completed his Surgical Oncology training at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. There, his focus was on the most effective surgical approaches to hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignancies. As a member of the UAB Surgical Oncology faculty he cares for patients with a wide variety of malignancies including skin, soft tissue, and gastrointestinal. He promotes a patient-centered approach, and feels that effective communication is paramount in the multidisciplinary care of his patients. Dr. Contreras is pleased to offer a broad range of oncologic therapies, including minimally invasive and robotic approaches. He is the Director of the UAB Surgical Oncology Tissue Bank, and participates in clinical trials.
