Kirin Syed, D.O., FACOS
Dr. Syed is a board-certified urologist in Fort Lauderdale Florida. She earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine. She went on to complete her internship and residency in urological surgery at UMDNJ (now Rowan University) in Southern New Jersey. She then went on to sub-specialize in the area of male and female pelvic health, reconstruction and prosthetics. She completed a clinical fellowship in voiding dysfunction, female urology, urologic reconstruction and prosthetics at the Bladder Health and Reconstructive Urology Institute at Memorial Hospital in South Florida.
She has authored and co-authored numerous publications and posters, has presented her work at multiple national conferences and has been frequently invited to speak to medical and non-medical audiences.
She has held several leadership positions. She is the current Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) Representative of the AUA Young Urologists Committee and the Co-Director of the Department of Urology Global Prostate Cancer Team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
In addition to treating general urology conditions, she is one of the few doctors in the Fort Lauderdale area that performs advanced procedures for urinary incontinence including minimally invasive urethral bulking, Botox®, placement of female and male slings and artificial urinary sphincters. She utilizes a unique non-mesh technique for bladder prolapse repair and is adept at placing penile implants for erectile dysfunction.
She is one of the only physicians in the area that is surgically trained to place neuromodulation InterStim™ Therapy for urinary and fecal incontinence and perform reconstructive surgery for urethral stricture disease.
Dr. Syed is an active member in the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons,
American Urological Association (AUA), Society of Women in Urology and American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
She enjoys teaching and working with residents and medical students and received the Resident Achievement Award by the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons in 2016. She has also received distinction as one of the 2015 National Guardian of the Profession by the AOA. She was also a member of the winning team at the 2013 MidAtlantic Section of AUA Regional Resident Jeopardy Bowl and a semifinalist at the 2014 AUA Annual Resident Jeopardy Bowl.
