Session Description

Nutrition Support in the surgical patient population is important to compliment wound healing.  It has been reported that malnutrition is linked with impaired wound healing. This webinar will review the history associated with nutrition support/metabolic management, discuss assessment, and update the participant on the most recent guidelines.

 

Learning Objectives

During this webinar, participants will:

1. Review the history associated with nutrition support

2. Provide resources for specific patient populations in need of nutrition

3. Discuss nutrition assessment with determining energy and protein requirements

4. Evaluate the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition / Society of Critical Care Medicine Guidelines

Clinical Pharmacist, Critical Care and Nutrition Support

Dr. Lisa Hall Zimmerman is a Critical Care / Nutrition Support Clinical pharmacist with a BS in Pharmacy from Auburn University, Doctor of Pharmacy from Samford University, and a PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She has served as a residency program director three residencies: the PGY2 Critical Care, the PGY2 Emergency Medicine at Detroit Receiving Hospital, Detroit, MI and the PGY2 Critical Care (2016-2019) at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. Dr. Hall Zimmerman is a Fellow of Critical Care Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, a Board-Certified Critical Care Pharmacist, a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist, and a Board Certified Nutrition Support Pharmacist.
