Nothing to Disclose

I have worked in healthcare since a young teen as a hospital volunteer aspiring to be a surgeon since the age of 12.  I received my Bachelors of Nursing degree and practiced as a Critical Care nurse for a short time before forging my path as a surgeon. My philosophy of care focuses on numerous aspects of a person’s life that can result in ill health.  Integrative healthcare stems from the concept of holism. As an Osteopathic trained physician, I learned the interconnectedness of the body. As ill health is a result of multiple factors, effective healthcare should be multifaceted. As I have grown as a healer, I further appreciate holistic care on a much deeper level which has taken me down the path of life long learing in integrative modalities to allow me to approach the care of my pateints from a more mind-body perspective.I have always been a forward thinker and strive to be at the forefront of treatment for breast cancer patients.  As a dedicated breast surgeon, I was an early adoptor of learning to perform my own ultrasound and stereotactic needle biopsies, ductoscopy, accelerated partial breast irradiation, Intraoperative radiation, oncoplastic surgical techniques, reverse lymphatic mapping, cryoablation, neoadjuvant endocrine therapy, and years ago became certified with City of Hope in cancer genetic counseling and testing and others.I have had focused study on nutrition, breathwork, mindfulness, aromatherapy, yoga and yoga therapy, Reiki, auricular acupuncture ,ayruveda and cancer exercise training so as to be a more comprehensive care provider.  I feel, though I am a surgeon, my responsibility as a healer extends to  helping my patients to understand mind body connection, lifestyle and environmental factors and how that impacts their health, wellness and survivorship.I am humbled and grateful my patient's tust in me.
